About Idaho Permit Technicians Chapter

About Idaho Permit Technicians Chapter

The Idaho Permit Tech Chapter (IDPT) is part of the national PermitTechNation network, created by Permit Technicians. Membership with the IDPT comes with membership to Permit Tech Nation (PTN) and discounts/access to educational opportunities. The IDPT Chapter has evolved into a supportive and encouraging community, mentoring Permit Technicians across the state and fostering professional growth through education and mentorship.

Permit Technicians are vital members of Building Departments in Idaho, serving as resources for both customers and staff throughout the permitting process. This profession requires expertise in permit tracking software, general office practices, and a broad knowledge of areas such as inspection, plan review, zoning, and code enforcement.

Our chapter is committed to increasing awareness of the Permit Technician role and elevating its visibility statewide among peers and establishing it as a respected and critical role in building departments.

To support this mission, we actively promote ICC certifications, including Permit Technician and Code Specialist designations, and offer advanced training throughout the year for those looking to expand their skills. Through educational opportunities and collaboration, we strive to empower Idaho Permit Technicians and ensure their success in this essential field.
